Xiaomi’s Cheap Electric Car Destroys Ferrari in Drag Races

Xiaomi surprised the car world when its budget electric sedan, the SU7 Ultra, beat Ferrari’s powerful SF90 XX in straight-line drag races held in Abu Dhabi.

The Ferrari SF90 XX is a famous supercar with a long racing heritage and a price of around $900,000. In comparison, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra costs only about $73,000 to $75,000, making the result even more shocking.

During the races, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra completed the quarter-mile in just 9.3 seconds, while the Ferrari took 10.2 seconds. In the half-mile race, Xiaomi again came out ahead, finishing in 14.5 seconds, compared to Ferrari’s 15.7 seconds.

What made this challenge even tougher was the track condition. The races were held on a sand-covered surface after a storm, which reduced grip and tested how well each car could handle traction, not just raw engine power. The electric Xiaomi handled the slippery conditions better, showing the strength of modern EV technology.

Xiaomi is mainly known as a technology and smartphone company, not a traditional car manufacturer. However, this performance shows that new electric car makers can compete with, and even beat, some of the world’s most exclusive and expensive supercars in certain situations.

This race highlights how electric vehicles are rapidly closing the gap with high-end performance cars and changing how people see speed, value, and innovation in the auto industry.
