Yamaha, known for its high-end motorcycles, surprised everyone by announcing a big increase in the prices of its popular models in Pakistan. The company says this is because there have been many problems in making the bikes, and the local money has lost its value.
Yamaha is famous for making premium motorcycles, not usually the more affordable ones. Models like the Yamaha YBR 125 have always been tough competition for other companies like Honda in Pakistan.
But Yamaha’s recent decision to make its bikes more expensive is different from what other companies are doing; they are actually giving discounts on their bikes.
Yamaha says the reason for the price increase is that they had trouble making the bikes, and also the local money is not worth as much as before.
Last month, Yamaha raised the price of its popular YBR 125 by a lot, making it Rs17,500 more expensive. So now, the new price for the Yamaha YBR 125 in Pakistan is Rs452,000 for 2023.
Not just the YBR 125, other Yamaha models are also getting more expensive. The Yamaha YB 125Z-DX now costs Rs396,000, the Yamaha YBR G 125 Black is now Rs453,000, and the Yamaha YBR 125 Matt Orange/Grey is now Rs456,000.
People have different opinions about Yamaha’s decision. Even though Yamaha is known for making bikes that are comfortable, balanced, and high quality, the higher prices might make its customers think twice. However, the company is still sure that people will like the quality and look of its bikes and will continue to buy them.
The car industry is going through many challenges, like problems with getting parts and not being sure about the economy. Yamaha deciding to make its bikes more expensive shows how these problems are affecting all the companies.
We have to wait and see how this decision will change what people choose to buy and how it will affect the motorcycle market in Pakistan.
