ChatGPT is the most exciting thing happening in tech right now, and anyone can try it, provided the system isn’t at capacity.
Federico Viticci, a well-known software engineer and tech enthusiast, has created the game-changing shortcut S-GPT (Shortcuts-GPT), which enables users to include ChatGPT into the built-in capabilities of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS.
Although the shortcut is available to everyone, in order to fully utilise it, users must set up an OpenAI pay-as-you-go pricing plan.
S-GPT, which can also be utilised with the current ChatGPT 3.5 model or ChatGPT 4 for those with access, leverages Open AI’s developer API to unleash the power of ChatGPT’s most recent API.
Viticci’s goal with S-GPT is to make ChatGPT easier to use and more accessible for both developers and tech fans by integrating it into a variety of Apple platforms.
The cost of using the ChatGPT API, which S-GPT makes use of, is small at $0.002 per 1,000 tokens (tokens are individual phrases that the chatbot uses to process commands). Viticci claims that his total outlay for S-GPT thus far is only $1.50 (or 123).
How to set up S-GPT
- Create an OpenAI account and make sure you have a pay-as-you-go billing plan.
- Get a ChatGPT API Key from your OpenAI account settings by selecting ‘Create a new secret key.’
- Download the S-GPT shortcut onto your device and start the setup process.
- When prompted for an API key, paste in the one you copied earlier.
- Download the S-GPT Encoder.
- If everything is set up correctly, the S-GPT shortcut should work as expected, even with Siri.
