The Quetta Gladiators secured their second victory in HBL PSL 9 with a convincing five-wicket win over the Lahore Qalandars, thanks to an outstanding performance by Khawaja Nafey, who showcased his batting prowess with a remarkable half-century.
In the recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 match against the defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators’ batsman Khawaja Nafay impressed cricket enthusiasts worldwide with his exceptional batting skills.
Opting to bat first at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the Lahore Qalandars posted a competitive total of 187-7. Opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan notably stood out with a well-crafted fifty. However, it was not enough to deter the Quetta Gladiators.
In response, the Quetta Gladiators chased down the 188-run target in just 19.1 overs, largely due to Khawaja Nafay’s stellar half-century. Nafay’s unbeaten 60 runs off 31 balls included four fours and three sixes, showcasing his ability to dominate the opposition bowlers. Adding to the Gladiators’ success, vice-captain Saud Shakeel contributed a valuable 40 runs off 23 balls, featuring seven boundaries and a maximum.
Of particular note, Khawaja Nafay’s innings also marked a historic moment in PSL history, as he became the first player to face just one dot ball in an innings of more than 30 balls, underscoring his exceptional batting efficiency and control.
