The European police agency recently said that it had assisted regarding the arrest of the 10 hackers who are suspected of stealing around $100 million in the form of cryptocurrency like in the attacks of SIM-swapping that also allowed the suspects to gain the overall access to the phones of the victims.
Europol stated that after the investigation the arrests were made possible in cooperation with the United States, Britain, Belgium, Canada, and Malta.
SIM-swapping attack is where criminals can easily gain all control over the SIM, a small computer chip which carries phone number that is used in order to identify the customer on their telecommunication network.
However, usually these phone companies are tricked into just deactivating the working SIM and also transferring all its functions to the one that is in control of the hackers.
