The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has teamed up with a number of like-minded civil society organizations to organize a spring tree-planting drive that will see 100,000 tree saplings planted across the city.
Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh Information and Local Government Minister, launched the spring plantation campaign at Karachi’s Bagh-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground).
Sindh Local Government Minister said that such saplings would be planted as part of the latest campaign, which would have maximum environmental benefits.
He added that the Sindh government was also working on an urban forest project along Karachi’s Malir and Lyari rivers.
He went on to say that a “Sarsabz Sindh” (Green Sindh) program had been launched to encourage greenery in the province, in line with the vision of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
