28,000 Pakistanis Applied for Asylum in Europe in 1 Year

Over the past year, 28,000 Pakistanis applied for asylum in European Union countries and other associated nations, according to the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA). These applications were filed between October 2023 and October 2024, showing an increasing number of Pakistanis aiming to move abroad.

Italy received the most asylum applications from Pakistanis, followed by France, Greece, and Germany. However, despite the high number of applications, only 12% of the 20,000 decisions made during this period granted refugee or subsidiary protection status.

The data also highlights a significant drop in the number of applications submitted each month. In October 2023, there were 3,400 applications, but by October 2024, this number had fallen to 1,900.

This trend reflects the challenges faced by Pakistani asylum seekers in securing refugee status in European countries. It also underscores the difficult circumstances that drive people to seek better opportunities and security abroad.

As migration pressures continue to grow, these statistics point to the need for more effective policies and support systems for both asylum seekers and the countries processing their applications.

The situation sheds light on the struggles of individuals seeking a new life while navigating the complex asylum processes in Europe.
