6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Parts of Pakistan

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), an earthquake of a 6.0 magnitude shook Islamabad as well as a number of cities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu on Sunday morning.

Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Swabi, and other northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province cities experienced tremors.

At a depth of 223 kilometres, the earthquake’s epicentre was located near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

The KP disaster management authority stated separately that earthquakes were detected throughout the province. It stated that no complaints of damage had been sent to the authority’s control centre.
