64-Year-Old Athlete Makes History by Winning Gold Medal for Pakistan at Asian Rowing Championship

Mohammad Shehzad, a 64-year-old rower from Pakistan, made history at the Asian Indoor Rowing Championship held in Pattaya, Thailand. He competed in the 60+ singles category and won the gold medal, beating India’s James Joseph. Shehzad also set a new Asian record with a time of 1 minute and 32.30 seconds.

The championship took place from May 26 to May 31, where athletes raced on indoor rowing machines like the Concept2 ergometer. These machines are used to simulate rowing on water and test an athlete’s strength and stamina.

Pakistan’s performance in the event was impressive. The team won a total of 14 medals, including 10 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze. This strong showing highlights the growing talent and dedication of Pakistani rowers in the international arena.

Shehzad’s achievement was celebrated by his daughter, Mahoor Shahzad, who is also an Olympian. She praised her father on social media and called him her hero. Many others joined in congratulating Shehzad and the team for making the country proud.

Other Pakistani rowers who stood out during the event included Abdul Jabbar and Tayyab Iftikhar. They also contributed to the medal tally and showed great performance in their respective categories.
