The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association, which represents nearly 15,000 fuel stations across the country, has issued a warning that petrol pumps nationwide could shut down if their concerns are not addressed in a timely manner. The association highlighted growing unrest within the sector, pointing to multiple unresolved issues that are affecting day-to-day operations.
According to the association, fuel station owners are facing increasing operational difficulties, mounting financial pressure, inconsistencies in pricing mechanisms, and abrupt policy changes that disrupt business stability. These challenges, they argue, are making it increasingly difficult for petrol pump operators to sustain their businesses under current conditions.
The association also revealed that a formal request for a meeting with the Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, has remained unanswered since March 6. This lack of engagement has further intensified concerns among stakeholders, who feel their issues are not being given due attention at the policy level.
Petrol pump owners have stressed that if these matters remain unresolved, the situation could escalate into a serious fuel supply crisis across the country. They have urged the government to take immediate action and include industry representatives in meaningful discussions to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
