9-Member Committee Formed for ‘Taking Care’ of Ailing Elephant Noor Jehan

A nine-person committee was established on Monday by Karachi Administrator Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman to care for the sick elephant Noor Jehan at the Karachi Zoo.

The committee members will provide the administrator with proposals and recommendations for the care of the elephant in reference to the health and wellbeing of the animal. According to a statement released by Rahman, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) values all efforts done to ensure the wellbeing of animals.

According to him, the KMC is making every effort to hasten the elephant’s recovery and is in video link contact with the Four Paws specialists, who are directing the treatment of the animal.

Rahman stated that the KMC had invited the Four Paws team, led by Dr. Amir Khalil, to operate on Noor Jehan a week prior. The Four Paws team proposed medications and measures for the elephant’s recuperation, which were properly implemented. He said that measures are being taken for the care and better health of the other animals of the zoo and KMC making all possible efforts in this regard.
