Pakistan Studies No Longer Complusory for Undergraduate Degrees

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has made a significant change to its undergraduate policy by removing Pakistan Studies as a compulsory subject.

Under the new policy, set to be implemented in the 2023 scheme of studies, Pakistan Studies will no longer be mandatory in BA, BSc, and all honors degree programs.

The decision has sparked varied reactions, with some expressing concerns about its potential impact on national sentiments.

Representatives from academic associations have urged the HEC to reconsider and reinstate Pakistan Studies as a compulsory subject.

However, a spokesperson clarified that universities have the flexibility to decide whether to include or exclude Pakistan Studies in their curriculum.
