Only Minerals Extraction Can Make KPK a ‘Super Province’: Governor KPK

Speaking at a ceremony in Peshawar on October 17, 2026, Kundi stressed that the government must take practical steps to extract and sell minerals instead of leaving valuable resources unused. He said the income generated from these resources should support development and improve opportunities for local people.

KP has deposits of various minerals and gemstones, which could support industries, create jobs and increase government revenue if managed effectively. The province has also faced challenges related to security, investment and industrial growth.

The governor has called for better use of the province’s natural wealth, while recent government statements have also highlighted the need to develop the mining sector.

However, turning mineral wealth into lasting economic growth will require responsible extraction, investment, transparent management and benefits for local communities.
