The Pakistan government has chosen to outsource eight airports in phases, according to Advisor to the Prime Minister on Aviation Farhat Hussain Shah’s statement to the Senate on Tuesday.
Initially planning to outsource Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi airports, Pakistan has expanded the decision to include eight airports.
The outsourcing process will be conducted in phases through open bidding. The Aircraft Owners and Operators Association of Pakistan (AOOA) had previously opposed the government’s decision, criticizing it as “unilateral” and lacking adherence to PPRA rules.
