Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2026 (PMIF26) Set for November 12–13 in Islamabad

The Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2026 (PMIF26) will be held on November 12–13 at the Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, bringing together policymakers, local and international mining executives, investors, financial institutions and technical experts to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s minerals sector.
Organised by the Government of Pakistan and endorsed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the forum is Pakistan’s flagship platform for connecting the country’s mineral potential with global investment, expertise and technology. Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) is the founding partner. Building on the momentum of PMIF25, this year’s forum will focus on translating dialogue into investment, partnerships and projects across mineral exploration, processing and sustainable mining.

PMIF26’s strategic partners include PPL, Mari Energies, GHPL, Reko Diq Mining Company, PMPL and Frontier Works Organization (FWO). Wood Mackenzie is the lead conference producer, while Milbank, White & Case and Lazard are knowledge partners. Academic partners include NAVTTC, NUST, the University of Peshawar and the engineering universities of Peshawar and Lahore, among others.
“PMIF26 provides an important platform to connect Pakistan’s mineral potential with global investment, expertise and technology. Our country has a vast mineral resource base and a harmonised regulatory framework with investment-friendly policies. OGDC is already a joint venture partner in the Reko Diq project, and we want to expand our footprint in the minerals and mining sector through our cooperation with global partners. We look forward to welcoming policymakers and industry leaders from across the world to Islamabad to exchange ideas, build partnerships and explore new ventures,” said Ahmed Hayat Lak, MD/CEO OGDC and President PMIF.

The forum comes as critical minerals gain strategic importance for the global energy transition, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. It will showcase Pakistan’s mineral potential, highlight policy reforms and explore opportunities across the mineral value chain.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Chief of the Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are among the key speakers. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik will deliver the welcome address on the opening day of PMIF26. International speakers include John L. Thornton, Chairman of Barrick Mining Corporation; Robert Friedland, Founder and Executive Co-Chairman of Ivanhoe Mines; Patrick Barnes and Wael Jaber of Wood Mackenzie; Isabel Chatterton and Claire Alidenes of the Asian Development Bank; and Mustafa Aksoy, Chief Executive Officer of Çalık Group.

Other speakers include representatives of the World Bank Group, Reko Diq Mining Company, Lazard, Weir, Milbank and the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources, alongside Pakistani government officials and industry leaders. The forum will provide a platform for local and international participants to discuss investment, technical cooperation, policy development and the future of the mining industry.

The two-day strategic conference will cover investor-ready mining jurisdictions, critical minerals and Pakistan’s role in the energy transition, financing early-stage exploration, workforce development, women’s participation in mining and the development of next-generation mining projects. Sessions will also address geological survey collaboration, infrastructure, export corridors, environmental and social considerations, and national capability development. Ahmed Hayat Lak, MD/CEO of OGDC and President of PMIF, will deliver the closing remarks.

A technical conference will feature more than 50 peer-reviewed technical papers, geological survey data, technology benchmarking and a workshop on Pakistan’s innovation potential in critical minerals mining. Similarly, an international exhibition will connect project developers, investors, equipment manufacturers, technology providers and other industry stakeholders. The exhibition will offer opportunities to showcase solutions, establish partnerships and explore business prospects. It will include a Mineral Expo of rare mineral specimens, project showcases and procurement briefings.

The PMIF26 exhibition will provide a marketplace for the minerals ecosystem, bringing together local and international companies to showcase their capabilities and explore opportunities for collaboration, investment and innovation. Exhibitors include the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), Allied Engineering & Services (Pvt.) Ltd., National Resources (Private) Limited (NRL), Bore and Bore Private Limited, Globacore Minerals Limited, Frontier Works Organization (FWO), Mari Energies, Barrick Mining Corporation, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL), Reko Diq Mining Company and Pakistan Minerals Private Limited (PMPL), among others. The exhibition will also feature a European Pavilion, offering a platform to explore international partnerships and investment opportunities.

The 2025 edition of PMIF brought together 5,000 delegates from more than 50 countries and featured 16 memoranda of understanding and agreements, alongside 18 panel discussions. Building on that international engagement, PMIF26 aims to strengthen Pakistan’s links with global mining and investment networks.
