Here’s When Will Election for New PM be Held in Pakistan

Political parties in Pakistan are currently in the process of forming the government at both the central and provincial levels following the general elections held on February 8. According to preliminary results, independent candidates have emerged as the frontrunners, securing 101 seats in the National Assembly, closely followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 75 seats.

The PML-N is actively trying to persuade the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other political factions to join forces in order to establish a coalition government at the center. Meanwhile, amidst these negotiations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) continues to issue notifications of victory for the winning candidates.

Citizens of Pakistan are eagerly anticipating the election for key positions such as prime minister, president, speaker of the National Assembly, and others. It is reported that the National Assembly is expected to convene on March 4 to elect the new prime minister, while the election for the presidency is scheduled for March 8.

Furthermore, reports suggest that the election for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly will take place on March 1, with the NA session set to be summoned on February 29.

To become the prime minister, a candidate must secure a minimum of 169 votes out of the 336-member National Assembly. The PML-N has put forward Shehbaz Sharif, the party president, as its nominee for the prime ministerial post.
