Saudi Arabia Inaugurates Middle East’s Longest Tunnel in Riyadh

The King Salman Park Foundation’s Board of Directors proudly announced the completion of the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Tunnel, a major achievement in easing traffic and congestion in Riyadh. This tunnel, which stretches an impressive 2,430 meters under King Salman Park, is among the longest in the Middle East.

Part of the broader King Salman Park project started in 2021, the tunnel symbolizes a significant step in the city’s development efforts. Led by King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince, this ambitious infrastructure initiative aims to make Riyadh a better place to live and enhance its global reputation.

Inspired by traditional Salmani architecture, the tunnel opens to traffic on February 29, 2024. It boasts three lanes in each direction, an emergency lane, and modern traffic management and safety features.

Covering an area of over 16 square kilometers, King Salman Park is designed to be a diverse destination offering cultural, artistic, recreational, and sports facilities, enriching the lives of Riyadh’s residents.
