General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, recently visited Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), where he introduced a state-of-the-art tank named HAIDER. This unveiling was confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.
During the visit, General Asim attended a ceremony marking the official introduction of the HAIDER tank. The event was significant, with the presence of notable dignitaries including the Chinese Ambassador, representatives from the Chinese state company NORINCO, as well as senior officials from both the Pakistani government and military. Additionally, military and civilian officials from HIT were also in attendance.
The HAIDER tank is a collaborative effort between Pakistan and NORINCO China. It’s described as a modernized main battle tank, representing the latest advancements in tank warfare technology.
This tank is characterized by its impressive firepower, protective features, and maneuverability. The development of the HAIDER tank highlights Pakistan’s commitment to excellence and innovation in its defense industry.
During the visit, General Asim was briefed in detail about the technical capabilities of the HAIDER tank and the progress made towards achieving self-reliance in arms production.
General Asim toured other manufacturing facilities within the Heavy Industrial Complex, where he commended the dedication and hard work of the officers and troops involved in achieving such a significant technological milestone.
