Pakistan’s footballers are urging fans to attend their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Jordan at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad on Thursday. Despite being played during Ramadan, the match kicks off at 2pm.
Pakistan, which lost its first two matches to Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan, is bottom of Group ‘G’ and faces a tough test against Asian Cup finalists Jordan.
English coach Stephen Constantine is leading the team, who have been training at the stadium for three days in preparation for the match.
Defenders Rao Umar Hayat and Easah Suliman have appealed to fans to support the team, with Hayat saying,
“I request the fans to come and support us.”
Pakistan hoped to include Adil Nabi and Etzaz Hussain in their squad for the games against Jordan, but the midfield duo opted out.
Despite this setback, Constantine has called up eight foreign-based players to his squad, including Rahis Nabi, Easah Suliman, Yousuf Butt, Abdul Samad, Abdullah Iqbal, Mohammad Fazal Imran Kayani, and Harun Hamid.
Jordan, who lost to Qatar in the Asian Cup final last month, will be looking to take maximum points against Pakistan in both legs of the qualifier.
