China Plans to Construct Satellite Factory Capable of Producing 1,000 Satellites Annually

Hainan, China is gearing up to establish a state-of-the-art satellite manufacturing facility, as the region’s southernmost rocket center anticipates an uptick in commercial launches.

Once operational, this factory will employ production line methodologies akin to those found in automobile manufacturing, resulting in significant cost reductions for space endeavors and propelling China’s commercial space sector forward.

“The annual production is expected to reach 1,000 satellites,” said Liu Botao, chief engineer of fixed assets construction at Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering.

According to the recent Zhongguancun Forum, China is catching up in commercial space. China’s commercial space market has huge potential and will become a trillion-yuan emerging industry.
