Former Pakistan cricket captain, Wasim Akram, believes that Shaheen Shah Afridi, a left-arm fast bowler, will once again become the captain of the national team. Akram criticized the frequent changes in team leadership, saying that such instability makes it difficult for the team to perform consistently.
Akram emphasized that Afridi should have been given at least a year to prove himself as captain. “If you made Afridi captain, you should have given him at least a year,” he remarked. Due to the criticism and politics within Pakistan cricket, Akram has distanced himself from the national cricket scene.
Despite this, Akram praised Afridi for his aggressive style of play and his ability to take wickets. “He’s an aggressive cricketer with a bright future,” Akram said.
He expressed confidence that Afridi will become the captain again in the future but advised him to concentrate on improving his game for now. Akram’s comments reflect his belief that with proper support and time, Afridi can lead the Pakistan cricket team effectively.
