Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Begins Oil & Gas Production from Punjab

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has started producing oil and gas from the Pothohar region in northern Punjab. This new project is expected to produce 550 barrels of oil per day and 0.8 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd).

The consortium working on this project includes PPL, which holds 49% of the shares, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) with 50%, and Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) with 11% shares. They have successfully drilled the Adhi South-8 well to a depth of 3,460 meters.

This project aims to help reduce Pakistan’s dependence on energy imports, which will save a significant amount of foreign exchange.

By producing more oil and gas locally, the country can become more self-sufficient in energy, reducing the need to buy energy from other countries. This will not only save money but also strengthen Pakistan’s energy security.

The successful commencement of production from the Pothohar region marks a significant step towards achieving these goals and highlights the collaborative efforts of PPL, OGDCL, and POL in enhancing the country’s energy sector.
