Babar Azam Drops Out of ICC Test Rankings Top 10 for First Time in 4.5 Years

Pakistan’s premier batsman, Babar Azam, has experienced a significant drop in his cricketing career, falling out of the top 10 ICC Test rankings for the first time in five years.

This decline follows a series of underwhelming performances in a recent home Test series against Bangladesh. During this series, Babar managed to score only 64 runs over four innings, which has been a major factor in his drop in the rankings.

The situation has been compounded by Pakistan’s overall poor performance in the series, where they suffered a shocking 2-0 whitewash at home. This unexpected defeat has had a major impact on Pakistan’s position in the ICC Test Team Rankings, causing them to slip to eighth place.

This is the lowest ranking the team has held since 1965, marking a significant downturn in their performance.

Babar Azam’s struggles in Test cricket have been particularly evident. He has not scored a century since December 2022 and has failed to reach fifty in his last 16 innings. This lack of form and consistency has not only affected his individual ranking but has also contributed to Pakistan’s decline in the Test rankings.
