India were bowled out for just 150 runs in their first innings of the 1st Test against Australia at Optus Stadium in Perth on November 22, 2024.
Debutant Nitish Reddy was the top scorer for India with 41 runs, while Rishabh Pant contributed 37 runs. India struggled early on, losing key wickets including Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Devdutt Padikkal, all for low scores. Both openers, Jaiswal and Padikkal, were dismissed without scoring.
KL Rahul made a brief contribution with 26 runs, but the rest of the batting order collapsed. Australia’s pace bowlers were in excellent form, with Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins leading the attack. Starc and Hazlewood took two wickets each, both for just 10 runs. The Australian pace trio dominated, making it difficult for the Indian batsmen to settle.
The only notable partnership for India came between Nitish Reddy and Rishabh Pant, who added 48 runs together, offering some resistance. However, after they were dismissed, the Indian innings quickly came to an end, leaving them with a small total to defend.
Australia’s bowlers were clinical and left India with little chance of recovery. With just 150 on the board, India now faces a tough challenge in the second innings to stay competitive in the match.
