Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have agreed to ease travel requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports issued by the two countries.
Under the new reciprocal arrangement, eligible passport holders will be able to travel between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia without obtaining a visa for short stays. The exemption will allow qualifying travellers to remain in the other country for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
The agreement is limited to diplomatic and special passport holders. People travelling on ordinary passports will not be covered by the new visa exemption and will continue to follow the existing entry and visa requirements.
The Turkish Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the arrangement and said that the date on which the new rules will officially take effect would be announced separately.
The agreement is expected to make official and government-related travel between the two countries easier by reducing visa requirements for eligible officials and holders of special passports.
The move comes as Türkiye and Saudi Arabia continue to strengthen bilateral relations across various areas, including trade, investment, tourism and diplomatic cooperation.
For ordinary travellers, however, there is currently no change to the visa requirements. The new exemption specifically applies to diplomatic and special passport categories and does not provide visa-free access to holders of regular passports.
Further details, including the formal implementation date and procedures for eligible travellers, are expected to be released by the authorities once the agreement comes into effect.
