Pakistan Petroleum Limited Announces New Oil & Gas Discovery in Sujawal, Sindh

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a major discovery of hydrocarbons at the Pateji X-1 well, located in the Sujawal district of Sindh. This marks an important achievement for the company and the country’s energy sector.

The discovery includes gas and condensate from the Upper Sand (C-Sand) reservoir after thorough evaluation of the well’s data. This follows an earlier discovery of hydrocarbons in the D-Sand reservoir at the same site, highlighting the region’s significant potential for energy resources.

The Shah Bandar block, where this discovery was made, is operated by PPL in collaboration with Mari Petroleum, Sindh Energy Holding Company, and Government Holdings. The Pateji X-1 well is currently producing an impressive 12.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, along with 196 barrels of condensate.

This discovery is a valuable addition to Pakistan’s energy resources, helping to reduce dependence on costly imported energy. It also contributes to meeting the country’s growing demand for natural gas and supports the national effort to enhance energy security.

Such advancements reflect the ongoing efforts of PPL and its partners to explore and develop indigenous energy resources, which are essential for the sustainable growth of Pakistan’s economy and energy sector.
