The closure of the Torkham border crossing has caused estimated financial losses of Rs380 billion to Rs400 billion, according to local traders and business representatives.
The crossing is a key trade route between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and its closure has disrupted commercial activities and affected businesses that depend on cross-border trade.
The closure has also affected the livelihoods of thousands of people in Landi Kotal. Local estimates suggest that around 2,500 taxi drivers and 3,000 labourers have lost their sources of income.
Meanwhile, declining customer numbers have left shops and hotels struggling to pay rent and cover daily operating expenses, adding to the financial difficulties faced by local businesses.
