Murree Declares Snow Emergency

Murree has announced a snow emergency as the winter snowfall season begins. The authorities are taking proactive measures to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the season, which runs from December 2, 2024, to March 15, 2025.

To manage the increased number of tourists, 19 emergency check posts have been set up, and extra personnel have been deployed. Traffic management has been tightened, with strict monitoring at key entry points like the Islamabad and GT Road toll plazas.

Special snow-clearing vehicles and salt supplies are ready to keep roads accessible during heavy snowfall. Additionally, 50 extra traffic officers have been assigned to the area to handle any issues that may arise.

For tourists, measures have been introduced to enhance their experience. Fixed hotel rates are in place to prevent overcharging, and 19 guide centres have been established to assist visitors. These efforts aim to make the visit enjoyable and hassle-free.

Authorities have set a deadline of December 10 to complete all safety preparations. Tourists planning to visit Murree are advised to follow the guidelines, check weather updates, and cooperate with local authorities for a safe and pleasant trip.

Murree’s snow season is a major attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The comprehensive measures put in place reflect the administration’s commitment to ensuring safety and convenience for both locals and tourists.
