Thailand introduces online e-visa platform for Pakistan

In a significant move to modernize and streamline its visa application process, Thailand has announced the launch of an online e-Visa platform for nationals of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Starting January 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM (UTC+7), all visa applications from these two countries must be submitted exclusively through the e-Visa platform at https://www.thaievisa.go.th.

No More In-Person Document Submissions

The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad has confirmed that applicants will no longer be required to submit their passports or original documents in person. Instead, the entire application process, including document uploads, will now be handled online. This marks a significant step forward in simplifying the visa process for travelers.

However, the online system currently does not support payment processing. Applicants will need to pay the visa fee in person at the Royal Thai Embassy, located at Plots No. 1-20, Diplomatic Enclave, Sector G-5/4, Islamabad.

Transition Period

To ease the transition to the new system, the embassy has announced that it will continue accepting in-person visa applications until December 24, 2024. After this date, all applications will need to be submitted through the e-Visa platform.

Approval and Entry Process

Once an application is approved, the applicant will receive a confirmation email from the embassy. This email must be printed and presented to the airline at the departure point and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

Streamlining the Visa Process

This shift to a digital application process reflects Thailand’s commitment to improving its consular services while embracing technological advancements. By eliminating the need for in-person submissions and introducing a streamlined online platform, Thailand aims to enhance convenience for travelers from Pakistan and Afghanistan.

While the new system promises efficiency, applicants are advised to familiarize themselves with the updated procedures to ensure a smooth application process. With the launch of the e-Visa platform, Thailand continues to position itself as a modern and accessible destination for international travelers.
