“I Have a Complaint with the People of Karachi that they Do Not Come to Watch the Matches”, Babar Azam

At the inauguration of the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Babar Azam received a huge round of applause from the crowd. However, he also shared his disappointment, saying that people in Karachi do not come to watch cricket matches in the stadium.

The Pakistan cricket captain urged Karachi residents to support the team by attending matches, just like they had gathered in large numbers for the stadium’s opening ceremony.

The event was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. It highlighted the completion of the stadium’s major renovations, which cost Rs 17 billion, in preparation for the Champions Trophy 2025.

The ceremony included celebrations with performances, and fans seemed excited about the new stadium. However, Babar Azam’s statement brought attention to the issue of low match attendance, raising concerns about local support for cricket in the city.
