President Dr. Arif Alvi said on Monday that Pakistan should join the light-speed path of digital growth for quick advancement because Information Technology (IT) was the world’s fastest growing sector.
He added that IT infrastructure development was crucial because the globe was ready and people were ready to travel on the digital roads to achieve progress goals. President Dr. Arif Alvi stated that continuous Internet connectivity was critical for the growth of the information technology (IT) industry, which has the capacity to realize the current era’s ideal of exponential development.
According to Dr. Arif Alvi, individuals all over the world use digital highways to express their thoughts and perspectives on the world. He went on to say that the digital economy was rapidly expanding, and that digital growth opportunities were also opening up in Pakistan. He claimed that the COVID-19 scenario has helped the world recognize how much information is available on the Internet, and that the younger generation is benefiting from digital highways.
Syed Aminul Haq, the Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoIT), spoke at the event, saying that Internet connectivity was the first pillar of the Digital Pakistan plan. He claimed that Rs 31 billion had been spent on giving broadband Internet access to the country’s most remote and underdeveloped districts.
Haris Mehmood Chaudhry, CEO of USF, remarked during the ceremony: “On the order of our Federal Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications, we have also enlarged our OFCs project to the level of Union Councils. This project is now a part of the broader programme, as we speak.”
A total of 101 towns and Union Councils will be connected through 709.5 kilometres of optic fibre cable as part of this project, benefiting a population of 2.8 million residents and enabling communities and ecosystems on a larger scale, according to the statement, which also stated that this project would ensure economic prosperity, social inclusion, and general networking between communities.
