Government to establish Drone Regulatory Authority

The Prime Minister has requested the formation of a Drone Regulatory Authority to appropriately make utilizes of the technology. The selection was made at a great level briefing according to the topic in which few ministers and high-ranked government officials informed the Prime Minister on the utilization of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in fewer fields for example, exploration, celebration and snapshots.

The government had recently arranged a draft policy for the utilization of UAV that involves, drones, quadcopters, model airplane and other unmanned flying items, in which stakeholders were approached to give their input and opinions.

Besides, Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan led a gathering in which officials from the Ministries of Aviation, Defence, Commerce, Industries, Interior, Food and Agriculture, and the Federal Board of Revenue met to plan the approach to provide UAVs. The gathering objected to categorize UAV types and introduce licenses and other regulatory measures to make sure of best utilization of the technology. The members were asked to give their feedback on the topic within two weeks to speed up the policy making measures.

Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that, “After incorporating the shareholders’ input, the draft policy will be introduced before the government cabinet for its acceptance.”

“The drone innovation is very valuable for farming, city planning, safety and lawfulness,” said PM Imran Khan. The premiere gave direction for a committee to be set up detail an administrative and legislative body regarding UAVs. The committee will present a draft to the PM with respect to the body in one month’s time”, as per reports.
