The Punjab Police have put in place a detailed security plan to keep people safe during Ramadan. The plan covers more than 36,500 mosques, 2,179 Imambargahs, and 444 places of worship for minority communities across the province. To make sure everything runs smoothly, over 75,000 police officers, officials, and community volunteers will be on duty throughout the holy month.
In Lahore, which is one of the busiest cities in Punjab, more than 5,000 police personnel will be stationed at important spots. These locations include religious sites, markets, and other crowded areas. The police are taking extra steps to prevent any security risks by setting up 200 walk-through gates and providing 12,000 metal detectors at sensitive areas. These tools will help detect any dangerous items and ensure safety for everyone attending prayers and other religious gatherings.
Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that this year’s security measures are even stronger than those in previous years. He mentioned that the police have learned from past experiences and are determined to provide a safer environment for all. Dr. Anwar urged police officers and volunteers to remain vigilant, especially around large gatherings during Taraweeh prayers and other religious events.
The police are also working closely with community volunteers to keep an eye on activities in neighborhoods. They plan to use surveillance cameras and increase patrols around important sites. The aim is to create a sense of security for worshippers and the general public.
Additionally, the Punjab Police are encouraging citizens to cooperate with security personnel by reporting any suspicious activities. Authorities believe that community involvement is a key part of making this security plan successful.
Overall, the enhanced security plan reflects the Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining peace and order during Ramadan, allowing people to observe the holy month with a sense of safety and comfort.
