A Karachi engineer has created an AI-powered robot teacher that is now helping students in a local school. The robot, known as Miss Aini, can teach seven subjects and answer questions in more than 20 languages.
Engineer Hassan Siddiqui built the robot from scratch in about seven months. He used locally available materials such as fibreglass, wiring, plastic and synthetic hair bought from Karachi markets. The project cost around Rs 300,000.
Miss Aini works at Happy Palace School’s Asfahani Campus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. She operates on Wi-Fi and interacts with students like a real teacher. She explains concepts, answers questions quickly and supports lessons in subjects that include mathematics and science. Students say they enjoy asking her questions in Urdu, English, Sindhi, French and other languages.
School officials stress that the robot is an assistant, not a replacement for human teachers. It does not take leave and can respond at any time during class hours. The school has even given it a symbolic monthly salary of Rs 100,000.
The project shows how artificial intelligence can support education in Pakistan. It makes learning more interactive and helps students from different language backgrounds. Future upgrades are planned to improve its features further.
