A 20-year-old woman from Punjab, Muqaddas, donated 60% of her liver to save her father, Khalil Ahmed, who was receiving treatment at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS). Her selfless act gave her father a new chance at life, but sadly, Muqaddas passed away a few days after the surgery due to intestinal complications.
Her family claims they were not informed about her condition in time and are now demanding an inquiry into her death. However, officials at GIMS deny any negligence, explaining that liver transplants are complex and high-risk procedures.
Dr. Abdul Wahab Dogar, a senior doctor at GIMS, shared that the hospital has conducted 1,200 liver transplants, with a 90% success rate. Despite the high success rate, some cases remain unpredictable, and complications can arise.
Muqaddas’ heartbreaking story has sparked discussions about the risks involved in organ donation and the need for better communication with patients’ families. It also highlights the incredible sacrifice she made for her father, showing the depth of a daughter’s love.
Her tragic passing has left many questioning whether more could have been done to prevent it, while others see her as a symbol of ultimate devotion. Her bravery and kindness will be remembered, but her death also raises concerns about post-surgery care and patient awareness in medical procedures.
