A fire broke out in the gynecology ward of Lahore General Hospital on Tuesday, creating a tense situation as smoke quickly spread through the hospital area.
The incident prompted the immediate evacuation of around 70 people, including pregnant women, patients, attendants, and hospital staff. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and worked to bring the fire under control before it could spread further inside the hospital.
According to officials, the fire may have been caused by a fault in the exhaust system or ceiling wiring. Earlier reports had suggested that a short circuit may have caused a fan to catch fire. Authorities are continuing to look into the exact cause of the incident.
During the emergency, a security guard was affected by smoke inhalation and was shifted to the emergency ward for treatment. Fortunately, he was later reported to be out of danger.
