World’s First Human-Robot Half-Marathon Coming! Can You Outrun a Robot?

China is set to make history this April by hosting the world’s first marathon featuring both human and humanoid robot runners!

Date: April 13
Participants: 12,000 human runners & humanoid robots from leading tech companies
Race Format: Humans and robots will start together and follow the same route, but robots will run in a separate lane for safety

This groundbreaking event will push the limits of both human endurance and robotic innovation. The top three finishers—whether human or robot—will be awarded, while robots will also compete for special prizes in categories like race completion, best endurance, and most popular robot.

To keep up with human competitors, robots can swap batteries during the race. Teams can also use a relay format by switching robots, but each change will come with a 10-minute penalty. The cutoff time for robots to finish the race is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

All participating robots must have a humanoid appearance and be capable of bipedal walking or running, meaning wheeled robots are not allowed. Both remote-controlled and fully autonomous robots can take part, making this a true test of robotics technology.

Can robots keep up with humans in a grueling half-marathon? Will a robot cross the finish line first? Let us know your thoughts!
