Pakistan’s footwear exports experienced a notable rise in the first eight months of the 2024-25 fiscal year. According to recent reports, exports grew by 15.48%, reaching $126.41 million (over Rs. 35 billion), compared to $109.46 million during the same period last year.
Leather footwear contributed significantly to this growth, with a 14.94% increase in exports. Other types of footwear, including canvas shoes, also saw higher demand in international markets.
In February 2025, footwear exports increased by 11.57% compared to February 2024. However, there was a slight drop in exports compared to January 2025. Despite this minor monthly decline, the overall performance remained strong.
This growth reflects Pakistan’s expanding presence in the global footwear market. Factors such as competitive pricing, improved quality, and increasing demand for leather products have contributed to this positive trend. Additionally, Pakistani manufacturers have been focusing on enhancing production standards to meet international requirements.
The government’s support for the export sector, including trade incentives and improved logistics, has also played a key role in this progress. By strengthening ties with international buyers and participating in global trade fairs, Pakistani footwear brands are gaining recognition on a larger scale.
Looking ahead, industry experts believe that Pakistan’s footwear sector has the potential to grow even further. With continued focus on quality improvement, sustainable production practices, and exploring new markets, the country could strengthen its position as a reliable footwear supplier.
This upward trend in exports is not only beneficial for the country’s economy but also creates more employment opportunities within the local manufacturing sector. If current growth rates continue, Pakistan’s footwear industry could achieve even greater success in the global market.
