With Pakistan’s ride-hailing market buzzing with competition, inDrive has carved a unique path—one that goes far beyond just getting people from one place to another. From sports partnerships to EV collaborations, CSR drives to tech empowerment, inDrive is quietly but impactfully redefining what a ride-hailing service can mean for a community. We sat down with Hassan Zaman, South Asia Marketing Manager at inDrive, to discuss the brand’s footprint in Pakistan, the vision behind their initiatives, and what lies ahead.
inDrive’s sponsorship of Islamabad United during the recent PSL season wasn’t just another brand placement. It was a reflection of shared values—leadership, excellence, and social commitment. “Our partnership with Islamabad United was driven by the strong synergies between our brands,” shared Zaman. “With mutual partners like WWF, the collaboration was a natural alignment of values and vision.”
Recognizing cricket’s unparalleled place in Pakistan’s cultural DNA, inDrive sought to enhance the PSL experience by ensuring fans had safe, reliable, and affordable transportation. “The public’s response was overwhelmingly positive,” he adds, noting that the initiative was appreciated for making match days more accessible.
But the journey doesn’t end with PSL. “We’re committed to expanding our presence in the sports ecosystem. Whether it’s supporting women’s cricket or investing in grassroots facilities—like the six we’ve already established—this is just the beginning.”
Another milestone for inDrive in Pakistan has been its strategic alliance under the “Honri” initiative. The aim? Accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in the ride-hailing space. “This partnership reflects our focus on sustainable mobility and empowering our driver community,” said Zaman.
By offering Honri’s four-wheeler EVs as an alternative to fuel-based cars, inDrive is helping drivers cut costs while supporting a greener urban landscape. Encouraged by the response, inDrive is now looking to scale this further—possibly in collaboration with government bodies—to make EVs more accessible through easy installment plans. “This is not just about transportation; it’s about driving real environmental and economic change,” Zaman emphasized.
If there’s one initiative that truly embodies inDrive’s community ethos, it’s their “Ride to Donate” campaign. Originating in Pakistan and now replicated globally—from Egypt to Brazil—the initiative dedicates 10% of every fourth ride’s fare to social causes.
Over the years, these campaigns have spanned a variety of themes: providing winter essentials to the underprivileged, establishing 100 small businesses for people with disabilities, and building inclusive sports facilities in partnership with organizations like DIL Pakistan and Special Olympics.
“Our latest campaign during Ramadan focused again on youth development by constructing new sports facilities—two are already complete, and one is in progress,” Zaman shared.
Why playgrounds? “Because we believe access to safe, inclusive spaces empowers youth. We work closely with local partners to identify areas most in need and make sure these spaces truly benefit the communities.”
While Ramadan-based initiatives make headlines, inDrive’s commitment to Pakistan’s social fabric is year-round. “Our Beginit program launched a free IT center with JDC, helping individuals upskill in tech. We also partnered with Akhuwat during the floods, donating PKR 10 million for school reconstruction,” Zaman noted.
In 2024, inDrive rolled out its YourPace initiative in Islamabad and Karachi—an 8-week fitness program for students from underprivileged schools, culminating in celebratory races. The brand has also backed inclusive communication platforms like ConnectHear and supported women in tech via the Aurora Tech Award, sending Pakistani female founders to the global stage.
inDrive’s growth in Pakistan has been nothing short of impressive. “We are the leading ride-hailing platform in the country, present in over 20 cities,” said Zaman. The brand’s signature peer-to-peer pricing model—where drivers and passengers negotiate fares—has been a game-changer. “It’s built for markets like Pakistan—affordable, flexible, and fair.”
Looking ahead, inDrive plans to further grow its footprint in smaller cities while diversifying its services—expanding into intercity travel, freight, and deliveries. “Our investments are holistic—tech infrastructure, marketing, employment, and community empowerment. We’re building a long-term, sustainable ecosystem,” Zaman affirmed.
When asked about inDrive’s broader regional strategy, Zaman was clear: “Pakistan is a priority market in Asia Pacific. Its young, vibrant population and evolving infrastructure offer incredible potential.”
And for the youth and entrepreneurs across the country, he had a message: “We see you as the driving force of Pakistan’s future. Stay innovative, challenge norms, and break barriers. At inDrive, we’re not just supporting your journeys—we’re journeying with you.”
From match days to mobility solutions, tech training to inclusive playgrounds—inDrive isn’t just moving people; it’s moving a movement.
