Age is Just a Number! 80-Year-Old Man Receives phD from Federal Urdu University Karachi

At the age of 80, Saeed Masood Usmani achieved something truly remarkable—he earned a PhD in Mass Communication from the Federal Urdu University in Karachi. His journey to this academic milestone is nothing short of inspiring.

Despite facing serious health challenges, including four heart attacks and a stroke, Usmani remained deeply committed to his education. His determination and love for learning never wavered, even in the face of physical hardship.

Under the guidance of Dr. Tauseef Ahmed Khan, Usmani completed a comprehensive thesis that explored the popularity and audience of FM radio in Karachi. His research involved more than 5,000 participants from various backgrounds and genders. The study examined how FM radio affects political awareness, provides education during disasters, and plays a role in preserving and promoting local culture and language.

Usmani is widely respected for his vast knowledge and is often referred to as a “walking encyclopedia.” His life has been filled with a spirit of activism and a passion for knowledge. Earning a PhD at his age is not just a personal achievement—it is a powerful reminder that learning has no age limit and that perseverance can overcome even the toughest obstacles.
