Federal Ministers’ Salaries Raised from Ra. 200,000 to Rs. 519,000 per Month

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved four new ordinances, bringing some important changes. One of the major changes is an increase in the monthly salaries of federal ministers and ministers of state. Under the new law, their salaries will rise to Rs519,000 per month, which is now the same amount that members of the National Assembly (MNAs) earn.

Previously, federal ministers were earning Rs200,000 per month, and ministers of state received Rs180,000. This salary increase will not only raise their income significantly but will also be applied retroactively, meaning it will take effect starting from January 1, 2025.

Along with the salary increase, three other ordinances were issued. One ordinance establishes the National Agri-trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA). This new authority will be responsible for setting and monitoring standards for agricultural imports and exports, ensuring food safety and quality.

Another ordinance brings changes to the country’s tax laws, making it easier for the government to collect unpaid taxes and recover pending dues. This step is expected to strengthen the country’s financial system and improve tax collection efforts.

The final ordinance introduces amendments to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). These changes are aimed at supporting administrative reforms to make the management of the capital city more efficient and effective.

Overall, these ordinances are seen as part of broader efforts to reform governance, strengthen the economy, and improve public administration in Pakistan.
