Chinese E-Bike Giant Yadea Plans to Set Up Manufacturing Plant in Punjab

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Yadea Technology Global Group is exploring the possibility of establishing an electric bike manufacturing plant in Punjab, Pakistan.

The proposed facility would produce electric two-wheelers for both the Pakistani market and potential international markets. If established, the plant could add to Punjab’s growing focus on electric mobility and local vehicle manufacturing.

Yadea has already established five electric two-wheeler manufacturing facilities in China and other countries. The company is now considering Punjab as a possible location for its sixth plant as it looks to expand its manufacturing network.

Discussions between the company and Punjab authorities also covered developments in fast-charging technology and possible investment in electric vehicle charging stations. The availability of charging infrastructure is considered an important part of expanding the use of electric vehicles.

The Punjab government has offered support for the proposed manufacturing facility and suggested establishing it within a Special Economic Zone. Such a location could provide an organized environment for industrial investment and manufacturing activities.

The proposed investment could create opportunities for local production, employment and related businesses involved in the electric vehicle supply chain. It could also contribute to the development of technical skills linked to electric mobility and vehicle manufacturing.

Electric motorcycles are gradually gaining attention in Pakistan as an alternative to conventional petrol-powered bikes. Rising interest in cleaner transportation and the potential to reduce dependence on fuel imports have increased discussions around electric two-wheelers.

A local manufacturing facility could make electric bikes more accessible to consumers while supporting the development of the country’s EV industry. The project could also help Pakistan become part of the wider regional supply chain for electric mobility products.

The discussions are part of broader efforts to attract investment in Punjab’s industrial and technology sectors. Further decisions regarding the location, investment size and timeline of the proposed Yadea facility are expected after the company completes its assessment of the province.
