No Challan, Direct Arrest! 5 New Traffic Laws to Control Traffic Violations

The city of Lahore has taken a strong step to control reckless driving and reduce road accidents. In a bold move, the Lahore Traffic Police has decided to stop issuing challans for serious traffic violations. Instead, violators will now be arrested on the spot or face an FIR.

This new approach is part of a wider effort to ensure road safety and discipline. According to officials, fines were no longer effective, as many drivers simply ignored them and continued breaking traffic laws.

Under the new policy, here are the five key violations that will now lead to direct legal action:

  1. Driving the Wrong Way: Hundreds have already been arrested for wrong-way driving, which has been a major cause of accidents and traffic congestion.
  2. Overloaded Rickshaws: Vehicles carrying excessive loads, especially rickshaws with blocked rear views, pose serious risks. These are now being strictly monitored.
  3. Unregistered Vehicles: Special focus is on unregistered two-wheelers and carts that often operate without being noticed.
  4. Underage Driving: Authorities are preparing laws to hold parents legally accountable if their underage children are caught behind the wheel.
  5. Reckless Driving: Speeding, dangerous overtaking, and careless driving behavior will now result in immediate FIRs.

Another major change is the creation of digital records for each offense. Once an FIR is filed, it becomes part of the driver’s permanent record, and it could affect future job opportunities, especially in government sectors.

This strict policy sends a clear message: traffic rules are no longer optional. The focus is now on strict enforcement to make Lahore’s roads safer for everyone.
