Pakistan social media users have been warned to change their passwords immediately following a major global data breach that exposed sensitive information from millions of accounts. The alert was issued by the National Cyber Emergency Response Team urging users to act fast to protect their online security.
Reports reveal that more than 180 million users around the world have had their personal data stolen. Accounts from popular platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram, Apple and even government websites have been targeted. The information was taken using a malware known as “info stealer,” which secretly collects login details and stores them in unsafe online databases.
The leaked data is now believed to be available on public websites, making users vulnerable to hacking, identity theft and ransomware attacks. Pakistani users are especially at risk, with possible threats to both personal and official accounts.
Authorities are urging everyone to immediately change their passwords, use strong and unique combinations and activate two-factor authentication for added protection. They also recommend using password managers and keeping antivirus software up to date.
Institutions are advised to inform affected users and monitor for unusual login activity. If not addressed quickly, experts warn this issue could damage Pakistan’s digital systems and increase the risk to sensitive information.
The message is clear, take control of your online security now. A few minutes spent updating your settings today could save you from major trouble tomorrow.
