PIA Set to Expand Fleet With 16 New Boeing Aircraft

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken a major step toward expanding and modernizing its fleet following high-level discussions in Washington regarding the potential acquisition of 16 new Boeing aircraft.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson, during which both sides discussed future cooperation and agreed to work toward securing the most suitable deal for PIA.

The proposed aircraft acquisition is part of the airline’s broader modernization strategy aimed at replacing older planes, improving operational efficiency, increasing flight capacity, and enhancing the overall passenger experience.

The addition of newer, fuel-efficient Boeing aircraft is expected to help PIA reduce maintenance and fuel costs while strengthening its presence on international routes.

Officials believe the fleet upgrade will play a key role in improving the airline’s performance, supporting future growth, and creating a stronger foundation for investment and privatization initiatives.

The development marks another important milestone in PIA’s ongoing efforts to rebuild its operations and restore its position as a competitive international airline.
