Skardu Airport has made history by handling 14 flights in a single day, showing how quickly the region is growing as a popular tourist spot.
Out of 16 flights planned for Wednesday, 14 successfully took off or landed, setting a new record and highlighting better air connectivity to the northern areas of Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the flights included four operation by PIA and three by Airblue.
These flights connected Skardu with major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. A total of seven flights landed in Skardu, while seven others departed for these cities on the same day.
This increase in air traffic is a strong sign of the rise in tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan. More people are now choosing to visit the scenic region, which is helping the local economy grow.
The successful handling of so many flights in a day also shows that Skardu Airport is improving its operations and is now close to meeting international standards.
Officials believe that such progress will open up more economic and travel opportunities for the area. As flight operations continue to increase, tourism is expected to grow even more, attracting both local and international visitors.
Skardu, with its beautiful landscapes and peaceful environment, is becoming a top destination in Pakistan. The record set by the airport is a big step forward in making the region more accessible and connected to the rest of the country.
