Pakistan Navy Receives Three Royal Marines Hovercraft from United Kingdom

The United Kingdom has officially delivered three upgraded Royal Marines LCAC(L) hovercraft to the Pakistan Navy. The handover includes spare parts and support services to keep the vessels operational.

These hovercraft were originally taken out of service in 2021. Since then, they have been refurbished by Griffon Marine Support under the supervision of the UK’s Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S). The updated hovercraft are expected to improve Pakistan’s ability to carry out coastal patrols, amphibious missions, and emergency relief operations.

A special handover ceremony took place in London, attended by officials from both countries. British officials said the move reflects the strong defence partnership between the UK and Pakistan. The Pakistan Navy welcomed the addition, saying it would strengthen the country’s maritime security and overall naval capabilities.

Under a separate agreement, Griffon Marine Support will continue to provide maintenance for these hovercraft, ensuring they remain in good working condition.

This development is seen as part of growing defence cooperation between the two nations, aimed at regional stability and better response to maritime challenges. It also marks another step in Pakistan’s efforts to modernize its naval fleet.
