FBR Introduces Pakistan’s First Al-Based Customs Clearance System

FBR has launched the country’s first-ever AI-powered Customs Clearance and Risk Management System (RMS). This new system is designed to make trade faster, more transparent, and less dependent on human involvement.

The project was started on the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. It uses artificial intelligence and bots to automatically check the type and value of goods being imported. This helps speed up the customs clearance process and reduces delays at ports.

Early tests of the system have shown impressive results. There was a 92% improvement in performance, and 2.5 times more Goods Declarations (GDs) were cleared through the green channel, which is used for low-risk shipments. This means fewer inspections and faster processing for trusted traders.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised this new step as a major achievement in FBR’s journey toward modernization. He said the new system will help improve ease of doing business in Pakistan, support honest taxpayers, and cut down on corruption.

He also emphasized the need to make this system fully integrated and sustainable, so it continues to benefit traders and the economy in the long run.

This AI-based RMS is expected to make customs operations more efficient and fair, allowing faster movement of goods and reducing costs for businesses.
