Murree GT Road Closed for all Traffic Due to Land Sliding

A dangerous landslide has occurred near Salgran in Murree, forcing authorities to completely close the GT Road for all types of traffic. The landslide happened after continuous heavy rainfall in the area, which loosened rocks and soil, making the road unsafe for travel.

People traveling to or from Murree are being strongly advised to use alternate routes, such as the Murree Expressway, until the situation is brought under control. The closure of GT Road has caused major disruptions, especially for those relying on it for daily travel or transport.

In a shocking and close call, Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and District Police Officer Asif Amin Awan were passing through the area when the landslide happened. Large rocks fell dangerously close to their vehicle. DC Shirazi suffered a foot fracture during the incident and was immediately taken to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for treatment. Thankfully, his condition is now stable.

The landslide was so severe that a big section of the road collapsed, making it impossible for vehicles to pass. Emergency response teams are on-site and working hard to remove the debris and clear the area. However, their efforts are being slowed down by the continuing rain, which is making the situation more dangerous and unpredictable.

Officials are monitoring the area closely and will reopen the road only when it is completely safe for travel. People are urged to stay updated on weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel to the region, and follow the guidance of local authorities.
