WhatsApp Will Let You Set Reminders for Chat Notifications, Here are Details

WhatsApp is getting ready to make it easier for users to keep track of important messages without losing them in busy conversations. The messaging app is testing a new feature that lets people set reminders for specific messages so they don’t forget to reply or follow up later.

This new tool, which is now available to some users through the latest Android beta update (version 2.25.21.14), allows anyone to choose a message and add a custom alert for it. Users in the test group can press and hold on a message, go to the options menu, and find a new “Set Reminder” button.

Once they select it, they can pick how long they want to wait before being reminded. Options include quick time choices like 2 hours, 8 hours, or even 1 day, or they can pick an exact date and time. A small bell icon appears on the message to show that a reminder is active.

When the time comes, WhatsApp will send a notification that shows the whole message, any photos or videos attached, and which chat the message came from. This way, users can quickly go back to the right chat and deal with the message when they’re ready.

The best part is that these reminders stay private. Only the person setting the reminder can see it — the other people in the chat won’t know anything about it. WhatsApp also keeps the reminders on the user’s device only, so no one else, not even WhatsApp, can see them.

Right now, this new reminder tool is only for a small group of Android users testing the feature, but WhatsApp says more people will get it soon. The feature will help everyone stay organized, whether it’s for work, family, or just remembering to answer a friend later on.
